JPSC Row: Government Agrees to Cancel Exam After 16-Day Protest, Disagreement Over CBI Probe
Ranchi: The student movement over JPSC-JSSC recruitment examinations in Jharkhand continues on its 16th day. Amid prolonged protests and several rounds of talks, the state government has agreed to several key demands raised by the students. This includes the demand to cancel the disputed JPSC preliminary examination. However, the government and protesting students have still not reached an agreement on the demand for a CBI investigation into the entire matter.
Government Changes Stand on Demand to Cancel Exam
Students have been protesting for a long time over alleged irregularities in the JPSC examination. Their main demand is to cancel the concerned examination, conduct it afresh and make the recruitment process more transparent. During the talks, the government has shown a positive stance towards the demand to cancel the examination.
The government has also agreed to investigations by the CID and ED into alleged irregularities reported in backlog examinations. Officials have stated that further action will be taken in the matter.

Chief Minister Assures Justice
Chief Minister Hemant Soren has assured the protesting youth that action will be taken against those found responsible for irregularities related to the examinations. He said that the concerns of young people should be addressed through dialogue and transparency.
Several rounds of talks have taken place between the government and the students, but a final agreement has not yet been reached on all issues. Therefore, the future course of the movement is likely to depend on the government’s decision on the pending demands, including the demand for a CBI investigation.
