The Government of India has announced the Padma Awards 2026, honouring distinguished individuals for their exceptional contributions in sports, arts, literature, science, medicine, industry, and social service.

In the field of sports, Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma and India women’s cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur were awarded the Padma Shri for their outstanding achievements and contributions to Indian cricket.

From the arts and entertainment sector, acclaimed actor R. Madhavan, veteran Bengali film star Prosenjit Chatterjee, and senior actor Satish Shah were honoured for their remarkable contributions to Indian cinema and the performing arts.

In literature and education, Mangala Kapoor received the Padma Shri for her significant work in the field. Renowned space scientist A. E. Muthunayagam was honoured in the category of science and engineering for his contribution to India's scientific and technological development.

In the field of medicine, Dr. Armida Fernandes was recognised for her distinguished service in healthcare, while industrialist Ashok Khade received the honour for his contribution to business and industry.

In social service, Anke Gowda M. was awarded the Padma Shri for his efforts toward the welfare and upliftment of underprivileged communities.
