Tensions Rise Amid US Blockade on Iran, More Than 20 Warships Deployed in Middle East
Washington/Tehran: Amid continuing tensions between Iran and the United States, maritime activity and military deployment in the Middle East have increased. According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), more than 20 US warships are currently deployed in the region. They are being used for operations related to the maritime blockade imposed against Iran, as well as other military missions.
According to CENTCOM, as of August 9, US forces had redirected 55 commercial vessels to enforce the blockade. Two vessels were also disabled, while two others were boarded and inspected as part of the operation.
