Peru Tourist Plane Crashes, 13 Killed; Passengers Were Heading to See Nazca Lines
Peru: A tourist plane heading to see the Nazca Lines in southern Peru met with an accident. All 13 people on board were killed in the crash. The victims reportedly included 11 tourists and two pilots.
Plane Had Departed From Pisco for Nazca
According to the information available, the plane had taken off from Pisco Airport. The flight was being operated to give tourists an aerial view of the Nazca Lines. During the flight, contact between the aircraft and air traffic control was lost. The plane subsequently crashed in the Pueblo Viejo area near the city of Nazca.
11 Foreign Tourists and Two Pilots Were On Board
The aircraft was operated by the local company Aerodiana. Eleven foreign passengers and two pilots were killed in the accident. According to preliminary information, citizens of Italy, Spain and Germany were among those who died. The exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
Strong Winds and Low Visibility Also Reported
Strong winds and low visibility were reported in the area before the accident. Weather conditions were also said to have affected some flights operating in the Nazca region.
