Kolkata: A major development has emerged in the West Bengal Assembly elections. The Election Commission has ordered a re-poll at all 285 polling stations in the Falta Assembly constituency. The re-poll is scheduled to take place on May 21.
Reports suggest that several complaints of irregularities, violence, and disruptions were received from multiple polling booths during the initial voting. Taking these allegations seriously, the Election Commission conducted a review and decided to order a fresh poll.
According to the Commission, this step has been taken to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections. Officials have been directed to maintain strict security arrangements during the re-poll to prevent any untoward incidents.
Political parties have reacted to the decision. While some parties have welcomed the move as a step toward strengthening democracy, others have raised concerns about the credibility of the earlier voting process.
Voters in the Falta constituency will now be required to cast their votes again on May 21. The administration has appealed to citizens to participate in a peaceful and fair voting process.
