Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed the importance of strengthening the friendly and cooperative relationship between India and Iceland. During a recent high-level meeting, both countries agreed to expand partnerships in key sectors such as clean energy, fisheries, sustainability, and the sustainable use of marine resources.

During the discussions, PM Modi stated that India–Iceland relations are built on shared values, innovation, and a commitment to sustainable development. He also praised Iceland’s achievements in the field of clean energy and environmental conservation.

The two sides discussed enhancing cooperation in areas such as geothermal energy, carbon capture technology, and fisheries. The Prime Minister noted that collaboration in these sectors would not only promote technological advancement but also help address global climate change challenges.

PM Modi also appreciated Iceland’s progress in the field of the Blue Economy. He said that the balanced and sustainable use of marine resources will play a crucial role in the future global economy, and India is keen to learn from Iceland’s expertise in this area.

In addition, the Prime Minister referred to the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) signed between India and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), expressing confidence that it would further strengthen trade, investment, and economic cooperation between the two countries.
