Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Robert Maersk Uggla, Chairman of global shipping and logistics giant Maersk, in Gothenburg, Sweden. During the meeting, both leaders discussed expanding investment opportunities in India and enhancing cooperation in the country’s port infrastructure and logistics sector.

In a post shared on X, Prime Minister Modi stated that India is rapidly emerging as a key global hub for trade and supply chains. He highlighted the government’s continuous efforts toward port modernization, faster cargo transportation, and reducing logistics costs to improve efficiency.

The discussions mainly focused on expanding port infrastructure, strengthening shipping networks, and developing advanced logistics facilities. Both sides also explored opportunities for increasing investments and building long-term strategic partnerships in India.

Experts believe that stronger cooperation with a global company like Maersk could significantly improve India’s maritime trade, exports, and international supply chain connectivity. The collaboration may also generate new employment opportunities across the country.

The Prime Minister’s meeting is being viewed as an important step toward transforming India into a global logistics and shipping hub.
