Evian, France: Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the G7 Summit 2026, held in Evian on June 16–17, where he strongly advocated the interests of India and the Global South on major international issues.
The summit focused on critical topics such as the global economy, climate change, energy security, artificial intelligence, resilient supply chains, and international security. PM Modi emphasized the priorities and concerns of developing nations, calling for inclusive and sustainable global growth.
During the summit, Prime Minister Modi held a cordial meeting with US President Donald Trump. The two leaders exchanged greetings and discussed bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and key global developments.
PM Modi also met several other world leaders to explore opportunities for greater collaboration in trade, investment, technology, and addressing shared global challenges.
Following the G7 Summit, the Prime Minister visited Slovakia, marking the first official visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country. During the visit, both nations agreed to expand cooperation in defence, technology, energy, space, and trade.
Experts believe that India's active participation in the G7 Summit and the historic Slovakia visit reflect the country's growing global influence and its increasing role in international diplomacy.
