On June 22, a powerful explosion and fire broke out at Barzan Gas Facility in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar’s largest gas production hub. According to Qatar’s Ministry of Interior and QatarEnergy, the incident occurred due to a technical malfunction during the restart of operations.

The explosion was so intense that it was reportedly heard in Doha, the country's capital. Massive flames and thick smoke were seen rising from the facility as emergency response teams rushed to the site. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control, while search and rescue teams continue efforts to locate the 18 missing people.

Officials have described the incident as a technical accident and stated that there is no immediate threat to public safety. However, the explosion has raised concerns in global energy markets, as Ras Laffan is one of the world's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) production and export hubs.

Experts warn that any disruption to gas production or exports could impact international energy supplies and global LNG prices. The Qatari government has ordered a detailed investigation into the cause of the incident.
