Chaos During CJP Parliament March: Protesters Allege Lathicharge in Delhi; AISA Leaders End 23-Day Hunger Strike
New Delhi: Tension gripped the national capital on Monday during the CJP-organised Parliament March. Delhi Police set up barricades at multiple locations to stop protesters from moving towards Parliament. As demonstrators attempted to push ahead, scuffles broke out and allegations of lathicharge surfaced. The situation briefly turned chaotic, with panic-like scenes reported at the protest site.
Ahead of the march, Delhi Police had already placed the city on high alert. Security was tightened around Vijay Chowk, Parliament Street and the roads leading to the Prime Minister's residence. Several sensitive areas were temporarily declared 'No-Go Zones', with a heavy deployment of police and paramilitary personnel.

Veteran actress Shabana Azmi, actor Prakash Raj, and Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha offered them water to mark the end of the hunger strike. The student leaders reiterated their commitment to continue the movement.
Ahead of the march, several public and cultural figures gathered at Jantar Mantar to express solidarity with the protesters. Shabana Azmi, Prakash Raj and Poonam Pandey addressed the gathering, supporting the protesters' demands and emphasizing the democratic right to peaceful protest.
During the demonstration, police and protesters engaged in heated confrontations at several locations. Police stated that the measures were taken to maintain law and order and enforce prohibitory restrictions, while protesters alleged the use of excessive force.
