Heavy Rain Worsens Situation in Mungeli, Parsahapara in Lormi Turns into an Island; Affected Families Shifted to Safety

Mungeli/Lormi: Continuous rainfall in Chhattisgarh's Mungeli district has worsened the situation in the Lormi area, with severe waterlogging reported at several places. Following heavy rain, low-lying areas have been flooded, affecting movement at several locations. Parsahapara village in Lormi block has been surrounded by water, following which affected families were shifted to safer locations.

The heavy rainfall has also caused the water levels of rivers and streams to rise, with water flowing over several bridges and culverts. In view of the situation, the district administration has increased security arrangements at vulnerable locations. Administrative teams are continuously inspecting areas affected by waterlogging.

Administration Steps In

Following reports of heavy rainfall, the Lormi SDM and other administrative officials visited several affected areas. People have been advised to stay away from waterlogged locations and move to safer places whenever necessary.

The administration has put up barricades at Karidongri Bridge and other bridges and culverts affected by rising water levels. After water reached the culvert on the road from Budhwari Bazaar to Ramgarh, arrangements were also made to restrict movement in the area.

Focus on the Achankmar-Maniyari River

The administration is keeping a close watch on the water level of the Achankmar-Maniyari River amid the continuous rainfall. During the month of Sawan, devotees and Kanwar pilgrims also travel through this route, making safety arrangements particularly important.

Meanwhile, waterlogging was reported in the residential area around Vibha Masih Road in Lormi. Work to drain the accumulated water has been started with the help of a mud machine.

Families Safely Evacuated from Parsahapara

Families affected by waterlogging in the Parsahapara area have been shifted to safer locations. Arrangements for accommodation, food and healthcare have been made for the affected people in Bijrakachar. The administration is continuously monitoring relief and safety arrangements in the affected areas.

People Advised to Remain Cautious

The administration has appealed to people to avoid rivers, streams, bridges, culverts and roads surrounded by water. Officials have also made it clear that people should not attempt to cross barricaded areas.

Control rooms at the district and sub-divisional levels have also been activated to deal with flood-like situations and emergencies. The administration said that the situation is being continuously monitored and relief and rescue operations will be carried out as required.

With rainfall continuing in Mungeli, close monitoring of water levels remains important. People have been advised not to venture out unnecessarily during bad weather and to follow the safety instructions issued by the administration.
