IAF AN-32 Transport Aircraft Crashes at Jorhat Airbase, Catches Fire During Landing
Jorhat, Assam: An Indian Air Force (IAF) AN-32 transport aircraft crashed while landing at Jorhat Air Force Station on Saturday. According to preliminary reports, the aircraft caught fire after the crash and broke into two sections, prompting an immediate emergency response.
The IAF confirmed the incident and stated that a Court of Inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the accident. Officials are yet to release detailed information regarding the extent of damage and any possible casualties.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing thick black smoke rising from the airbase shortly after the crash. Firefighters and rescue teams rushed to the scene and launched operations to control the blaze and secure the area. Videos and images circulating on social media show smoke billowing from the wreckage.
