Protesting alleged irregularities and the paper leak in the NEET-UG examination, students and youth organized a march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament on Monday, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. However, Delhi Police had not granted permission for the march, citing security and traffic management concerns.
When protesters attempted to cross police barricades, the police tried to stop them. As the situation became tense, tear gas shells were fired and a baton charge was carried out to disperse the crowd, leading to chaos at the protest site.
Organizations associated with the movement, along with Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP), alleged on social media that around 40–50 protesters suffered head injuries during the police action. They also alleged that Geetanjali Angmo, the wife of social activist Sonam Wangchuk, was mistreated and assaulted by the police.
The protesters are demanding a fair investigation into the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination, strict action against those responsible, and the resignation of the Union Education Minister. The issue continues to spark political and public debate.
